Project description: SPOOF/Visual Project (part one)
Create a spoof ad. See Adbusters.org for some examples. Begin by either choosing a company, corporation a product or commodity (like: steel, coal, etc) .
Research both the product/company/manufacturer/corporation you will spoof. A Spoof is a visual form of Satire. Usually it uses the same or similar visual strategies to communicate a different/opposite message. You may not tell untruth-Lies-or slander a company simply because you dislike it. Find out where it came from, who produces it or ( in the case of a company) what they produce? What are their values? Are these subsidiaries of other parent Corporations?
Create an ad using Photoshop and InDesign that spoofs it in a critical way. This must be more than simply changing a slogan. You must substantially alter the image/ad and make it your own.
You may scan an existing ad you find in the print media or download one form the web. Downloads must be at least 1000pixels in one direction.
Post your spoof ad with a one page written document discussing what your research uncovered, what you chose to spoof and how you went about it visually. You may also do a video or Web spoof if you so choose. Video must be at least 45- 60 seconds long. Edited and contain sound.
Parameters:
Image: If you do a static Ad: Use Photoshop or InDesign.
Resolution: 300 dpi ( for images)
Size 11 x 17

- Include research you did on the origins of the product, Company etc What do know about the company/ product history?
- Include information about the advertising campaign or look/ feel of the org. you chose to spoof

Research: product/company/manufacturer/corporation you will spoof. A Spoof is a visual form of Satire. Do not repeat / reorder something- like: “got milk?” . Please, Please do not lie. Satire usually uses the same or i visual strategies to communicate a different/opposite message. You may not tell untruth-Lies-or slander a company simply because you dislike it. I realize this may be outta comfort zone stuff, please no flaming anyone- these are to be visually articulate versions of ideas/campaigns. These might also be “what if’s “scenarios. Before quippy- or repeated responses to topics, please first- Find out where it came from, who produces it or ( in the case of a company) what they produce? What are their values? Are these subsidiaries of other parent Corporations?
